Who can take part?
All young chef heroes and heroines up to the age of 26 who have completed their culinary training can apply.
How does the competition work?
18 chefs will be selected for the exciting preliminary rounds, which will be held at INTERNORGA in front of a live audience. The task in the three preliminary live challenges is as simple as can be: four ingredients and 60 minutes to develop a creative dish. For each preliminary round, two candidates will get their ticket to the finals. The final is a big challenge, because a dish created by star chef and Next Chef Award sponsor Johann Lafer has to be recreated – without a recipe and only your own taste will help you!
What is there to win?
In addition to fame and glory and, of course, the title Next Chef 2023, you can look forward to your own cookbook, which you will publish with the renown Gräfe und Unzer publishing house.
How long has the Next Chef Award been in existence?
The battle among young chefs has been held at INTERNORGA since 2016. Since then, more than 70 chefs have competed live and cooked against each other.
Who has won so far?
The Next Chef Award has produced four beaming winners so far: Jonas Straube (2016), Maximilian Schultz (2017), Marianus von Hörsten (2018) and Kevin Gedike (2019).
