Coffee trends 2025: A look into the future of coffee culture

Coffee is increasingly developing into a unique enjoyment experience that focuses on innovation, sustainability and individuality. Preparation methods such as cold brew and nitro coffee are becoming increasingly popular and are setting new standards in coffee culture. Today, coffee is much more than a simple stimulant – it is a social ritual, a cultural phenomenon and a source of inspiration for creative moments.

The trend towards plant-based milk alternatives such as oat, almond and cashew milk is unstoppable. At INTERNORGA 2025, exhibitors such as Oatly and Alpro will be demonstrating how plant-based options are not only more sustainable but also taste great. These alternatives offer the perfect complement to modern coffee drinks and appeal to conscious consumers who want to combine taste with responsibility.

At the same time, the demand for specialty coffee and single-origin coffees, which impress with their special origin and the transparency of their supply chains, is increasing. Exhibitors such as Dallmayr, J.J. Darboven and Lavazza will also be presenting their latest creations in 2025. “We are delighted to be represented at INTERNORGA again this year. The exciting discussions with customers and top national and international decision-makers always inspire us to further develop our hot beverage concepts. It is important to us to continuously increase the appreciation of coffee, tea and cocoa and to offer our customers suitable service concepts. We stand for the highest product quality and personal service,” says Nils Stoevesand, Head of Key Account Management at J.J. Darboven

One of the highlights will also be the SCA Germany coffee and barista championship. From March 14th to 16th, Germany's most talented baristi will be demonstrating their skills with exceptional coffee specialties. In a fifteen-minute stage performance, they will have to serve the jury a total of twelve drinks: four espressos, four milk-mix drinks and four signature drinks. The best performer will be crowned German Barista Champion and will represent Germany exclusively at the SCA World Barista Championship from October 17th to 21st in Milan. Be there when high-quality beans are turned into true works of art!
